Program Description

Earn your wings. Today’s flight attendants are highly trained, highly skilled and focus on safety as the core of their job function. The Tourism – Services Management – Flight Services Specialization (TFS) diploma program encourages you to develop career-related skills, knowledge and behaviours to effectively perform a variety of functions required in providing passenger safety and service as you work in the airline industry.

Seneca is continually finding new ways of introducing current business technologies into its programming. Starting in January 2017, as a new student in the Tourism: Service Management – Flight Services Diploma program you’ll lighten your book load. Flight Services courses will now be offered digitally and course materials delivered via Apple’s iPad. You’ll benefit from relevant and engaging course content that promotes collaboration and conversation to ensure you’re always learning ahead of the curve. If you already have an iPad that’s great, you’ll need iOS 7 or higher with at least 2GB of space to accommodate course materials. If you don’t, don’t worry you’ll just need to purchase one directly through Apple or one of their authorized retailers. Get ahead at Seneca.

Graduates from this program receive a Tourism: Services Management Ontario College Diploma.

As a student in the Tourism: Services Management – Flight Services Option Diploma program, you’ll study and work in the Seneca Flight Services uniform. By living this standard each day, you’ll become practiced in formal, occupation-specific presentation and prepare for the real world. Also, you will acquire First Aid, CPR and Smart Serve certification*. In semester four you’ll have an opportunity to experience the industry and network with like-minded professionals through a valuable field placement.

* As a student of this program, you will purchase a professional uniform and obtain industry certifications at a fee. These measures are vital to the program curriculum and contribute to your professional experience.

International Travel/Study Abroad

As a student in the Tourism and Travel program you are eligible to apply to study abroad in your fourth semester at one of the following international institutions:

  • Fernwood Business School – Aspire Group in Pretoria, South Africa
  • Zulu Nyala Game Lodge – South Africa
  • Swiss Hotel Management School – Montreaux, Switzerland.

Field Placement

As part of your program credit hours, you will complete 150 hours of unpaid field placement in the fourth semester. You will receive assistance from your professor, but it is your responsibility to confirm a placement upon successful completion of all third semester subjects before accepting a field placement position.

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with:
    • Grade 12 English: ENG4(C) or ENG4(U)
  • OR Mature Student Status (age 19 or older) with the above prerequisite course(s), their equivalent(s) or appropriate Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Certificate program credits (see Academic Upgrading).
  • Although not required for admission, the following are recommended for your success in the program:
    • Grade 11 French
    • Proficiency in a second language.

As a graduate from the Tourism – Services Management – Flight Services Specialization program, you may find employment as a flight attendant, airline passenger service representative, airline check-in agent, cabin crew or an airline reservation agent for Canadian or international air, rail and cruise carriers.

Transfer Credit/Pathways

The Degree and Credit Transfer Office provides a number of services for students continuing their education at Seneca, and for graduating students considering degree transfer options.

Through transfer agreements and institution partnerships, graduates of this Seneca College program may be eligible for credit at various post-secondary institutions. Please refer to the Degree Transfer Guide for more information.

Transfer Credit may be granted for courses deemed equivalent to courses at Seneca that have been completed at recognized postsecondary institutions. Additional information is available online .
